Herkimer College is accepting applications for qualified adjuncts (part-time faculty) to teach various courses in our approved College Now high school locations. A recommendation from your current school district principal is required in order to proceed.

College Now is the concurrent enrollment program at Herkimer College. Concurrent enrollment programs are cooperative agreements between colleges and high schools that offer high school students the opportunity to take college classes in their high schools for college credit.

The obligations associated with serving as an instructor in the College Now program include:

  • Submission of updated syllabus each term in accordance with provided common course syllabus templates

  • Participation in course roster verification process to ensure appropriate student registration

  • Prompt reporting of any changes in student enrollment (drop, withdrawal) to the College Now office

  • Timely electronic submission of final grades via Banner

  • Submission of end of term documents (including attendance records, gradebook with grade determinants, copy of culminating exams or activities)

  • Completion of course assessments, including general education and student learning outcomes

  • Distributing and encouraging completion of student course evaluation surveys

  • Participation in required trainings and/or professional development

  • Other program evaluation and data collection activities, as necessary

Job Requirements:

To teach in the College Now program, instructors must meet the same qualifications as Herkimer College part-time faculty members. In addition, they are required to follow the same course guidelines and policies that are followed by all Herkimer College instructors.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in the area(s) of concentration

  • Recommendation from current school district principal is required

The following documents are required for a complete application:

  • Submission of the College Now Instructor Application

  • Resume and cover letter

  • Completion of the Banner Account Information Sheet

  • Three letters of recommendation, including one from current principal

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended are required before the term in which instructor will begin teaching. These should be sent from the institution(s) directly to HCCC.

  • Supporting documents may be attached within the application or emailed to [email protected]
