Full job description
WTOV is looking for a Newscast Director for our weekend 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts. The successful candidate will also be part of our production crew, working out of our remote production trailer. We produce nearly 50 events annually, from football, baseball and basketball games to debates and town halls.
Responsibilities:

Perform any production duties as assigned including:

Direct and code any assigned newscasts and productions using our Ross, Overdrive and SAGA automation systems.

Work with Producers on production of newscasts and special projects
-
Work with remote production crew on sports telecasts. Duties may include directing, camera operation, replay, graphics or audio along with set up and tear down duties.

Maintain production studio and control room

Ensure studio equipment and production areas are organized, operation and cleans at the beginning of each shift.

Work with management on maximizing quality of newscasts, production workflows and technical operations.
Requirements:
-
Experience Directing newscasts.

Knowledge of production standards and equipment
-
Experience with broadcast automation systems and production control room operations.

Ability to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure

Able to remain calm and make quick decision during breaking news and severe weather coverage.

Able to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours.

Must be able to lift up to 40-pound lighting instruments
