Full job description

Hours vary depending position and location (7, 7.25 or 7.5 hours)

Position and Locations:

6:1:1 ED Bush - Phoenix Academy

8:1:1 ED Bush - Phoenix Academy

8:1:1 ED Bath School District

Planning Room - Phoenix Academy

Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Social Workers are expected to:

  • Evaluate and re-evaluate short-term behavioral and academic objectives on a regular basis throughout the school year

  • Provide counseling services for students in BOCES classrooms

  • Attend CSE meetings or other student support meetings as needed

  • Refer as necessary to Mental Health Services outside the school environment

  • Develop solutions focused outcomes for social, emotional, behavioral, and academic issues as they arise

  • Carries out all other duties as assigned

  • Job responsibility may require individual to do one and two-person lifts and/or physical interventions on a daily basis. Position requires the successful completion of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for schools (TCIS) training. Initial and refresher TCIS training is provided by GST BOCES.

Job Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid NYS Certification in School Social Worker and possess a Clinical or Master Social Worker License; Clinical Social Worker level is preferred
