Personal Community and Employment Professional

  • Location: La Plata, MD

  • Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Spring Dell Center is seeking compassionate, patient, and motivated Personal Community and Employment Professionals to provide individualized one-on-one support to people receiving services throughout our community.

In this role, you will help individuals achieve personal goals, build meaningful relationships, increase independence, and actively participate in their communities. Support may be provided in day program, employment, home, and community settings depending on the needs and interests of the individual assigned.

Every day is different. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others grow, values meaningful connections, and wants to make a positive impact through person-centered support.

Examples of Activities

Activities may vary based on the individual's interests, goals, and support needs, but can include:

  • Enjoying outdoor activities

  • Arts and crafts projects

  • Attending community events and local attractions

  • Watching or participating in sports and recreational activities

  • Shopping

  • Volunteering in the community

  • Participating in recreational activities

  • Exploring new hobbies and interests

  • Building social connections and friendships

Key Responsibilities

Personalized Support:

  • Provide one-on-one support in community, employment, and program settings

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living and personal care as needed

  • Support health-related needs in accordance with agency policies and training requirements

  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate assistance and guidance

  • Utilize positive reinforcement and person-centered approaches to support individual success

  • Communicate effectively and patiently, adapting support to individual communication styles and needs

Community Engagement:

  • Support participation in meaningful community activities, volunteer opportunities, and employment experiences

  • Assist individuals in exploring new interests and developing skills

  • Help build and maintain positive relationships within the community

  • Encourage social interaction, inclusion, and active community participation

  • Provide transportation and support during community outings and appointments as assigned

Planning & Documentation:

  • Assist with implementing individualized plans and goals

  • Track progress and document services accurately and timely

  • Collaborate with team members, families, and other support professionals

  • Help identify opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and increased independence

  • Participate in team meetings and required training

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more

  • Full drivers license (non provisional)

  • Clean driving record with 2 years driving experience

  • Basic computer skills
