Solder Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Solder Technician to support high-volume manufacturing of optical transceivers. This role is responsible for precision soldering, rework, and assembly of sensitive electronic and optical components in a cleanroom environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring product reliability, quality, and throughput as we scale production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hand soldering and rework on PCBs and microelectronic components (SMT and through-hole)

  • Assemble optical transceiver subcomponents, including fiber and connector interfaces

  • Interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, and BOMs

  • Inspect solder joints under microscope to meet IPC standards

  • Support prototype builds and NPI (new product introduction) as needed

  • Troubleshoot and repair defective assemblies to improve yield

  • Maintain proper handling of ESD-sensitive and optical components

  • Follow cleanroom protocols , including gowning and contamination control

  • Record build data and defects for process tracking and continuous improvement

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize processes Qualifications

  • 2+ years of precision soldering experience (electronics, telecom, or similar)

  • Experience working under a microscope for fine-pitch components

  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and schematics

  • Strong attention to detail and steady hand skills

  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment

  • Experience with hand rework of fine-pitch surface mount components (0201, 01005) Preferred:

  • Certified under IPC 7711/7721, NASA, and other relevant workmanship standards
