The Department of Professional Education Programs of The Esteves School of Education at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time, professor of practice (non-tenure track) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, effective for Academic Year 2026/2027.
The candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses in our Literacy Specialist graduate degree program, as well as courses, as needed, in additional graduate programs and/or undergraduate education programs within the Esteves School of Education.
In addition, as is typical of positions in higher education, the successful candidate will serve as advisor to program majors, partner with key stakeholders for recruitment and retention endeavors, and maintain scholarship/professional accomplishment (Boyer Model).
Location: in-person/hybrid (some in-person, some remote).
The estimated base academic year salary for this position is $55,000, commensurate with experience.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will have an earned terminal degree (PhD, EdD) in literacy or a related area (ABD may be considered based on degree completion timeline and applications) or significant professional experience (15-20+ years).
The applicant should have current knowledge and practice on multiple approaches to preparing teachers to engage students in literacy (must have experience with the Science of Reading and other methodologies).
Preferred:
In addition to the minimum requirements, the preferred candidate will have successful experience teaching in higher education with a variety of modalities, including online asynchronous courses, professional experience, and a network that applies directly to the degree program.
Ideal candidate has a blend of PK-12 and higher education teaching experience and leadership capabilities.
