Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner)UPMC Wellsboro | Hospital Medicine

UPMC is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/PA or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner/CRNP) to join the Hospitalist team at UPMC Wellsboro. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a 100% inpatient setting while working a highly desirable 7-on / 7-off night schedule that supports both clinical impact and extended time off.

UPMC Wellsboro is a 25-bed critical access hospital with a 6-bed ICU, offering a close-knit care environment with expose to both routine and higher-acuity inpatient cases.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

  • 7-on / 7-off

  • Predictable block scheduling with extended time off

  • Night shift (12 hour shifts)

  • 7 PM - 7 AM

What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized patients during overnight shifts

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and complex medical conditions

  • Perform admissions, cross-coverage, and patient assessments as needed

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care

  • Respond to urgent clinical situations and support rapid decision-making overnight

  • Document care and ensure smooth transitions for daytime care team

  • Knowledge of growth and development principles

  • Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan

  • Ability to assess patient data and deliver care per departmental policies

  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Physical stamina and dexterity required for direct patient care

  • Successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, where applicable.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

  • Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program

  • BSN required; MSN preferred

  • Pennsylvania RN license and CRNP certification

  • National certification and eligibility for licensure and CRNP certification by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing

  • Physician Assistant (PA)

  • Graduation from an ARC‑PA-accredited Physician Assistant program

  • CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire)

  • Act 34
