Mentor Hospital's Emergency Department is a 19-bed department that provides 24/7 emergency care to diverse populations of patients. With an innovative virtual platform, the Emergency Department has a telehealth 'robot' (a mobile telehealth station) to host consults for patients. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment.

A caregiver in this position works three 12-hour variable shifts from 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. with rotating weekends and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.

  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.

  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • One year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting, Will consider military RN experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Or American Red Cross

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

  • Experience in an Emergency Department setting

  • Critical Care experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
