Full job description

Pilot execution intern Application deadline: February 27, 2026

Since spinning out of MIT, we have completed two field deployments in brine disposal and wastewater re-use, in the process winning two technology bake-offs (the More Water Less Concentrate Challenge and the Pop-Up City Contest ). In 2025 and 2026 we are putting together pilot systems in several new applications (produced water disposal, seawater desalination, and solar-powered groundwater desalination) as the final step before we go to market.

We are looking for three interns to assist us with various aspects of pilot system delivery. This will be a hands-on internship which will focus primarily on assembly and testing of water desalination systems during the spring. You may also assist with project planning and development.

Work will primarily take place at our workshop in Chelsea, MA. You will be working together with another intern and closely with the founding team.

Some useful skills are included below, but are not requisites:

  • Experience working with water desalination systems or other high-pressure fluid systems

  • Experience with plumbing

  • Experience with electronics assembly (e.g. sensors, valves, motors, VFDs, microcontrollers)

  • Experience with electric wiring

  • Experience with equipment skid design & fabrication

  • Experience with 3d CAD assemblies, especially piped systems

  • Experience with hydraulic components (e.g. valves, victaulic fittings, etc.)

  • Ability to read flow diagrams or process and instrumentation diagrams

Harmony Desalting At Harmony, we are advancing the state-of-the-art in water purification using a combination of advanced processes, new membranes, and fresh insights. In doing so, we will help secure clean water for people all around the world.

Since spinning out of MIT in 2021, we have demonstrated our batch RO process in two award-winning field deployments: Reclamation’s More Water Less Concentrate Challenge and the IDEaS Pop Up City Contest. In 2023, we won an Impact Medal at the Global Prize in Desalination.

Over the next year, we are focused on deploying additional pilot demonstrations supported by the Bureau of Reclamation, the National Alliance for Water Innovation, and the Saudi Water Authority. Following this next round of pilots, we anticipate selling our first commercial systems in 2026.
