Underground Distribution Groundperson
A entry-level position building towards a career in maintaining and repairing underground distribution and transmission systems.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
-
Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line workfollowing company established Safety and Health standards from the ground level.
-
Ability to problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
-
Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
-
Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
-
Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
-
Will have contact with public and private property owners to professionally communicate work to be performed.
-
Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.
-
Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jack hammer and hand-line etc.).
-
All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
-
Reports all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Must be 18 years of age or older.
-
Ability to:
-
follow directions, work safely & productively.
-
problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
-
identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)
Education & Experience
- Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.
Pre-Screen
- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications:
- Driver License Required, willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
