Full job description

Charlestown, Boston, MA | Onsite five days per week | Full time

Who We Are

We build the intelligence that lets robots sense, reason, and act in the real world, moving beyond the lab and into everyday industrial settings like warehouses and factories. Our technology closes the automation gaps that traditional systems can't solve. We are on a mission to redefine how physical work gets done, and we're looking for curious, bold thinkers to help shape the future of robotics with us.

Overview

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to design innovative systems and components for AI driven robots. In this role, you'll own designs from concept through fabrication: creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings, conducting mechanical simulations and performance testing to validate your work, and iterating hands on through prototyping and troubleshooting. You'll collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with electrical and software systems, coordinate with vendors and suppliers on fabrication and quality, and optimize designs for cost, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Your Responsibilities

Design and Testing

  • Design mechanical systems and components for AI driven robots.

  • Conduct site visits to take measurements and gather requirements for finished designs.

  • Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for fabrication.

  • Conduct mechanical simulations and performance testing to validate designs.

  • Build, test, and iterate on prototypes hands on, feeding lessons learned back into your designs.

  • Optimize designs for cost, efficiency, and manufacturability.

  • Translate designs into clear fabrication and assembly documentation.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components with electrical and software systems.

  • Source components and coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and procurement on fabrication, quality, and lead times.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computational Mechanics, Engineering Science, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, particularly in robotics or automation.

  • Experience in industrial design or special purpose machinery is a plus.

Skills

  • Proficiency with CAD tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar.

  • Understanding of mechanical testing and prototyping processes.

  • Strong knowledge of material properties, manufacturing methods, and system integration.

  • Experience with simulation and FEA tools is a plus.

  • Comfortable working hands on in a lab and shop environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: USD $125,000 to $145,000 (actual pay based on skills, experience, and location)

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents

  • 401(k) with 100% company match, up to 6%

  • 20 days paid time off

  • Parental leave

  • Paid sick leave

  • Wellness or gym stipend

  • Learning and development support

  • Equity/Bonus
