Full job description

The tutor is primarily responsible for encouraging self-directed learning and development in each student. To do this, a tutor assists students to understand their coursework. This may require the tutor to help clarify a concept or give a clear explanation of an assignment. The tutor is not expected to know how to answer every possible question, but rather to work to ensure that the student develops a firm foundation to take learning to the next level. Math tutors are asked to visit classes at the start of each semester to introduce themselves and make students aware of tutoring resources. They may also be asked to attend math classes or other college events to promote tutoring services. They may also be asked to coordinate and present workshops to assist just in time learning. Additional tasks may also be assigned by the director. Degree in mathematics. Experience Teaching/Tutoring a plus. We are looking for individuals with a strong sense of personal responsibility and who are self-starters. They should be compassionate yet not afraid to set healthy boundaries. Work hours may vary.

The schedule will change with the semester.
