Full job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kennel Assistant / Housekeeping Worker to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in our veterinary clinic. This role is essential for the health and safety of our patients, staff, and clients. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is reliable, and understands the importance of hygiene in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, surgical suites, and waiting areas.

  • Responsible for the care of boarding patients.

  • Disinfect surfaces, instruments (non-sterile), and equipment according to clinic protocols.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the clinic.

  • Manage waste disposal, and general trash, following all safety regulations.

  • Refill and maintain cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Launder clinic linens, towels, and bedding for patients and treatment areas.

  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to management.

  • Assist with stocking and organizing cleaning supplies and clinic materials.

  • Follow all occupational safety and infection control procedures, including proper handling of animals when necessary.

  • Support clinic staff in maintaining a welcoming environment for clients and pets.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial services, or a veterinary/medical setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and safety procedures.

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 40lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic understanding of infection control and sanitary practices.

  • Compassion and respect for animals and people.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, and potentially unpleasant odors.

  • Physical activity including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.

  • May require occasional weekend or evening shifts depending on clinic hours.

Pay is $17/hr
