Full job description

Description

Our client is looking to hire an entry level Staff Accountant with prior experience working in the Real Estate/Property Management industries. This Staff Accountant will assist with the following: processing accounts receivable/payable transactions, preparing bank reconciliations, preparing maintenance schedules, completing journal entries, maintaining bookkeeping operations, overseeing tenant charges, preparing budget analysis, monitoring cash flow updates, preparing financial statements and reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while collaborating with internal teams. The ideal Staff Accountant will have a strong foundation in real estate or property management accounting.

Everyday Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and account analysis

  • Assist with daily accounting functions

  • Reconcile and monitor collection accounts

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (GAAP)

  • Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts

  • Monitor the record keeping system

  • Prepare tenant invoices

  • Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation needed

Requirements

The ideal Staff Accountant will preferably have an Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.

Other requirements for the Staff Accountant role include and are not limited to:

  • 2+ years real estate/property management (corporate or public) experience a MUST

  • Real Estate/Property Management industry experience

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems

  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
