What we're seeking We're looking for highly organized, motivated, and empathetic young adults who want to help the next generation feel their best. As a Somethings Mentor, you will be able to help teenagers navigate the difficulties of their adolescent years and enable them to live their happiest, healthiest lives.

Key qualifications

  • Must reside in Alaska

  • Must have a current Peer Support Professional (PSP), Traditional Peer Support Professional (TPSP), or willingness to complete the certification process with us

  • Lived experience with mental health challenges and willingness to share your personal story while helping others

  • Ability to commit to the working schedule outlined below:

  • Mon - Thurs: 4:30 PM - 10 PM PST

  • Fri: 4:30 - 7 PM PST

  • Have some experience working in crisis intervention and de-escalation or comfort navigating difficult conversations

  • A growth mindset and willingness to adjust with feedback

  • Highly organized and tech-savvy

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Enrolled in or completed a 4-year college, 2-year program, or trade school program

  • Fluent in English (other languages gladly welcomed!)

Tech requirements:

  • Reliable internet connection with a minimum of 10 Mbps for download speed and 5 Mbps for upload speed. Use https://www.speedtest.net/ to check your connection

  • High-quality camera, headphones/microphone

  • Private, quiet working space

  • Strong light source

  • Clean, uncluttered background

These tech requirements must be met by the time you start working with teens. You must be able to demonstrate that you have met these requirements by submitting screenshots of your internet speed, as well as videos and photos of yourself for review.

What we offer you

  • $20/HR, plus monthly bonuses of $60 for each teen above 20 you successfully keep engaged in the program

  • Measured by 5+ days of unique app engagement per month

  • 24.5 hours per week across 5 days

  • 4 days off a month, including one day of PTO

  • Free initial training & certification as a Certified Peer Specialist, if needed, with further educational opportunities

  • Submit your written application. We will review your application as soon as possible.

  • If you pass the written application, you will be invited to submit a video interview. The video can be submitted via Google Drive, One Drive, Vimeo, or YouTube.

  • If you pass the video screen, you will be invited to interview with our team (approx. 75mins), including a text-based roleplay that simulates Mentor text-based support on the Somethings platform

  • Prep material will be provided in advance of this session

  • If you pass the live interview round, you'll be sent a formal offer, complete internal training and onboarding tasks. Once your CPS certificate is approved, we'll get you onboarding in our next available cohort.

  • Background check: As part of our initial onboarding process, all candidates will be required to complete a background check before moving forward with certification and training

  • Once all of your internal training and onboarding is complete and you have a valid CPS certification, you will be activated as a Mentor and start working directly with teens!
