Full job description

Overview Under direction of an authorized radiologist, this position performs all types of nuclear medicine imaging procedures and therapy on patients as requested by physicians. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

  • Communicates with supervisor or his/her designee of any unsafe condition, equipment malfunction and other departmental needs.

  • Confers and obtains guidance from a radiologist on all unclear procedure orders before proceeding with the exam.

  • Documents and records receipts of all radioactive materials, returns and disposals of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Department of Transportations (DOT).

  • Orders radiopharmaceuticals as needed.

  • Performs all types of nuclear medicine imaging procedures, as requested by a physician, by using Gamma camera and by using the department and radiologist set protocols.

  • Verfies patient name and date of birth, and explains in full details the procedure to be performed prior to start of exam.

  • Performs daily surveys, collects flood data, bar phantoms, calibration check of dose and calibrator at the appropriate times as outlined in the documents and procedure manuals.

  • Prepares assays in the prescribed dose and route administration, performs quality control radiopharmaceuticals on patients in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Indiana State Board of Health (ISBH) regulations.

  • Prepares necessary paperwork after completion of exam and forwards them to radiologist for reading. Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be proficient in performing all Nuclear Medicine procedures.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and computer skills.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, under stressful situations, and in a team environment.

  • Must be registered by ARRT and/or NMTCB.

  • Must have Indiana State License.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Allied Health-Nuclear Medicine Preferred

  • 1 Healthcare/Medical - Radiology (Imaging and Therapy) Preferred

  • 2 Healthcare/Medical - Nuclear Medicine Required

  • Certified Nuclear Med Tech

  • Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
