Position Summary

The Physician Associate provides primary care services as part of a collaborative care team at Martin’s Point Health Care. This role evaluates, diagnoses, treats, educates, and supports patients within the scope of licensure, training, clinical privileges, and applicable supervision or practice agreements.

The Physician Associate works closely with physicians, clinical staff, and other members of the care team to coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient histories, perform physical exams, assess clinical concerns, and document findings in the medical record.

  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including ordering tests, interpreting routine diagnostic studies, and prescribing medications within scope of practice.

  • Perform approved therapeutic procedures, which may include injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, incision and drainage of superficial infections, treatment of verrucae, splinter removal, simple laceration repair, and follow-up care for simple fractures.

  • Educate and counsel patients on health promotion, disease prevention, treatment plans, medication use, lifestyle factors, and follow-up care.

  • Coordinate patient care needs with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and other members of the care team.

  • Facilitate appropriate referrals and connect patients with community health resources, as needed.

  • Assist with care coordination for patients receiving continuing care in homes, nursing homes, or extended-care facilities, as assigned.

  • Provide care in Martin’s Point Health Care locations, as assigned and in accordance with current agreements.

  • Participate in daily huddles, team meetings, and workflow improvement efforts.

  • Maintain required clinical documentation, privileges, licensure, certifications, and demonstrated competency.

  • Respond appropriately to urgent or emergent clinical situations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Medical Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Associate program.

  • Current state license as a Physician Associate.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • National certification, or eligibility for national certification, as required by applicable state regulations.

  • Ability to practice within applicable supervision, delegation, and clinical privilege requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of clinical practice, primary care, and patient assessment.

  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within scope of practice.

  • Ability to interpret clinical findings and routine diagnostic studies.

  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients, physicians, clinical staff, and other care team members.

  • Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.

  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent or emergent situations.

  • Demonstrated alignment with Martin’s Point Health Care values.

NP/PA Pay: $135,000 - $160,000 (ranges are based on a full- time position and upper range reflects total cash compensation averages inclusive of base salary and other incentives)
