Job Summary

The Assistant House Manager plays a critical role in supporting the administrative and operational coordination of the Residential Unit. This position works closely with the House Manager to help develop, implement, and maintain unit policies and procedures, while ensuring that staff and clients remain informed of all agency and departmental guidelines. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Assistant House Manager contributes to the overall effectiveness of the unit by supporting staff performance, maintaining program quality, and responding appropriately to emergencies or critical incidents.

This role also involves providing direct supervision and guidance to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges. The Assistant House Manager is expected to demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and respect in all interactions, while maintaining a strong, consistent focus on safety and well-being.

A key responsibility is remaining actively aware of each child’s daily status, progress, and emerging concerns, ensuring timely communication and intervention when needed. The position requires the ability to differentiate between discipline and punishment and to look beyond surface behaviors in order to understand and address underlying needs. Success in this role depends on building trusting, supportive relationships with youth. The Assistant House Manager recognizes that these relationships are foundational to implementing individualized treatment plans and delivering effective unit programming that promotes growth, stability, and positive outcomes.

Qualifications (Education, Training and Experience)

  • Associates Degree or 60 college credit hours plus 3 years of work experience with children is required, OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Mental Health or Human Services field plus 1 year of work experience with children is required.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Ability to clear physicals/trainings to fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.

Schedule:

Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday (evening shifts, typically 3PM-11PM)

Training:

Must be able to complete a paid 2 week training, Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM

Compensation: Hourly - $22.75-$23.75 (Annually $47,320-$49,400 -- overtime available)
