Job Descriptions:

Summary:

Drives bus to transport passengers over specified routes according to time schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drives passenger vehicles ranging from 9-65 passenger capacity consisting of pick-up and delivery of students with developmental disabilities to and from their homes and classes within Stark County.

  • Complies with all Ohio Motor Vehicle Laws, safety rules as established by the Ohio Department of Education, and Board Transportation Policies and Procedures.

  • Reports delays or accidents.

  • Completes daily paperwork as per procedure. Maintain accurate records of all passengers transported.

  • Completes documentation of all incidents and accidents as they occur;

  • Performs bus safety pre and post-trip inspections as required by Law to assure vehicle is in proper working condition;

  • Maintains all safety equipment, and communicates all defects and maintenance needs;

  • Maintains a safe and sanitary bus environment;

  • Knows the proper use of securing devices for safety vest, wheelchairs, car seats and seatbelts;

  • Attends all program wide in-services and other training programs as assigned.

Required Experience:

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must meet the minimum physical requirements as stipulated by the State of Ohio, including successful completion of annual T-8 Physical Examination.

  • Must maintain a valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus Endorsement, and possess a driving abstract reflecting less than six (6) points.

  • Must pursue and maintain CPR/First Aid certifications, and MANDT Behavior Training.

  • Subject to random drug testing per the Department of Transportation requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • Ohio CDL School Bus Driver's License.

  • One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
