The primary focus of the Corporate Counsel, Transactions will be working on complex domestic and international multifamily and commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and debt investments. • Lead complex real estate transactions, including both direct acquisitions and share purchase transactions.

  • Draft, negotiate, and review JV agreements, purchase agreements, and loan agreements.

  • Close real estate financings, including whole loans, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity investments.

  • Draft, negotiate, prepare, and review contracts related to real estate operations; ensure compliance with internal policies and business goals.

  • Proactively identify legal and business risks in deal structuring, and bring solutions to the table.

  • Supervise and support outside counsel, and collaborate with business team members across the firm's transactions, asset management, and investor relations groups.

  • 4 to 6 years of transactions and/or M&A experience, preferably in real estate.

  • Availability for domestic and international conference calls outside normal working hours, given HGI's global platform.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and operate as a self-starter.

  • Strong team orientation, with the ability to work equally well independently and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative legal team.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
