Full job description
The Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist (Lab Tech) is directly responsible to the Laboratory Leadership Team for performing all laboratory procedures, quality control and maintenance in all sections of the clinical laboratory; solving instrument and procedure issues; making quality control decisions; recognizing abnormal versus normal results; instructing non-laboratory personnel on methods of specimen collection; obtaining blood specimens by proper methods; bringing problems with the above to the attention of laboratory leadership; consulting with providers and/or supervisors on problems with clinical specimens or results; maintaining stock of supply and reagents; assisting laboratory leadership and other laboratory personnel in evaluating new procedures; recommending instrumentation changes.
Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited program.

ASCP or AMT Board eligible*
-
One year experience working as an MT/MLS preferred.
The person fulfilling this position with the above qualifications must meet the CLIA requirements for Technical Supervisor, and function as Testing Personnel.
*Individuals without ASCP/AMT certification qualify as MLS I. Individuals with ASCP/AMT certification qualify as MLS II.

Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program.
