Advertised Job Summary:

The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a Palmetto College campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in biology, ecology, and environmental science for a 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 16, 2027.

The faculty member will teach courses suitable for freshmen and sophomore students taking biology, ecology ,and/or environmental science for majors ( BIOL 102/102L, 301/301L) and non-majors (e.g., ENVR 101, BIOL 110, BIOL 270/270L). The faculty member’s teaching will predominantly be focused on ecology, environmental, evolution, organismal diversity, and animal dissection. The normal course load the faculty member will teach per semester is twelve contact hours or its equivalent, including lectures, labs, evening, and distributes learning courses as needed. In addition, there are opportunities to teach upper division courses in the University’s Palmetto College online bachelor’s degree programs. Candidates must be willing to teach dual credit high school students at both main campus and potentially the Indian Land locations.

Assistant Professors must have a commitment to scholarship and university/community service.

Advertised Salary Range: $50,000

Advertised Minimum Qualifications :

Applicants must have a PhD in biology or another appropriate degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in biology, including credentials necessary for departmental approval by the start date of the employment (ABDs considered).
