About this role

Carrier Climate Solutions is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Controls & Automation Engineer to join our engineering department.

The Manufacturing Controls & Automation Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing our manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will design robust automation solutions, troubleshoot complex electrical and control systems, and collaborate with teams to drive continuous improvement and operational reliability throughout our facility. Manufacturing Controls & Automation Engineer also mentors junior engineers and maintenance technicians, fostering a collaborative culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

This is an onsite role in Collierville, TN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support manufacturing control systems and automation solutions.

  • Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, HMI, VFD, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Lead root-cause analysis efforts on equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

  • Support installation, startup, modification, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.

  • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and control system documentation.

  • Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and uptime.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and reliability.

  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and applicable electrical codes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 5+ years of experience in programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley, PLCs, HMIs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.

  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting electrical, controls, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.

  • Ability to read, understand, and develop electrical schematics.

  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and machine safety standards.

  • Experience with conveyors, stamping presses, and automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Familiarity with servo drives, encoders, industrial networking, and Ethernet communications.

  • Experience in Siemens programming languages.

  • Experience with 6-Axis robots.

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.

  • Effective English communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently while leading cross-functional initiatives.

  • Serve as the technical lead for controls-related projects.

  • Mentor junior engineers and maintenance technicians.

  • Provide technical guidance during equipment upgrades, automation projects, and troubleshooting activities.

  • Drive reliability and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
