Your Impact at SAM

As a SUE Project Manager at SAM, you’ll lead multiple subsurface utility engineering projects from proposal through final delivery. You’ll serve as the primary client contact, guide field and office teams, and coordinate the resources needed to deliver quality work on schedule and within budget. This role combines project management, team development, and client relationship building. You’ll help solve project challenges, mentor staff, and support business development through proposals, client presentations, and industry involvement.

  • Lead multiple SUE projects from planning through completion, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and client requirements.

  • Coordinate field crews, CAD staff, and other project personnel, including staffing, scheduling, logistics, and technical troubleshooting.

  • Develop and manage project proposals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and contracts.

  • Build strong client relationships, communicate project progress, and address changing needs.

  • Monitor project financial performance, including billing, accounts receivable, and work in progress.

  • Mentor and develop staff while identifying ways to improve workflows and project delivery.

  • Coordinate with subconsultants and internal teams to support successful project outcomes.

  • Support business development through client presentations, industry events, and professional organizations.

What You Bring to SAM

  • Experience managing SUE projects or phases, including coordinating teams, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Understanding of SUE field operations, office workflows, and project deliverables.

  • Familiarity with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD or MicroStation and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate project expectations to clients and team members.

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and support field and office staff.

  • Sound judgment and practical problem-solving skills to address project challenges.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining quality and collaboration.
