Description

Parkside Preschoolis a private, not-for-profit, New York State Department of Education approved school for children ages three- to five-years with special needs. Parkside Preschoolprovides center-based and community-based services to families residing in Putnam and Westchester counties. In our center-based program, our school’s primary focus is to serve children with severe communication or learning difficulties and autism spectrum disorders. Our community-based integrated classrooms are offered at the same site, in collaboration with the Pine Grove Country Day School of Mahopac.

We are currently seeking aFT Teacher Aide 1:1 to provide support to the classroom teacher while assisting students, frequently on a 1:1 basis, throughout the school day.

We are close to major roads such as I-84/I-684 and only 35 minutes from the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge! Paid orientation and training is provided for all positions.

STARTING SALARY: $ 17.65 - $19.42 per hour

Minimum Requirements

•High School diploma or equivalent

•Prior experience working with preschool children or children with special needs preferred

•Positive attitude

•Comfortable following directions

•Flexibility with respect to assignment (including one-to-one work with children and assignment to other classrooms)

•Able to respond appropriately to stressful, challenging and occasional emergency situations

This position requires physical coordination, stamina, ability (e.g. ability to run, sit on the floor, lift non-ambulatory children, negotiate uneven surfaces and playground equipment, work in hot and cold weather ) .
