The immediate vacancy is with the Department of Transportation - Highways Division located in KONA .

A continuous recruitment may be closed at any time. Operates a truck having a factory-rated capacity of 5 tons and over, or a tank truck having a capacity of over 1200 gallons as a major work assignment and performs operational maintenance; may perform manual work tasks in connection with general construction and maintenance work; and perform other related duties as assigned. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement : The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Experience: ONE (1) YEAR of work experience in the operation of trucks having a factory-rated capacity of more than one and one-half tons; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirements: This position requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B, with Endorsement N (Tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity), and no restrictions relating to codes E (manual transmission), J (automatic or synchromesh transmission) and L (air brakes) at the time of application.

Note: If a copy of your CDL is NOT submitted at the time of application, your application will be rejected.

Note: A valid out-of-state CDL may also be accepted. If you are selected for this position, you must transfer your out-of-state CDL to a Hawaii-issued CDL prior to your employment start date.
