Full job description
Per Diem Respite Worker
Location: Garden City, NY | Schedule: Full Time, 19 hours per week | Status: Non-Exempt |Salary Range: $20/hour
The Opportunity
Family and Children’s Association (FCA) is seeking a Respite Worker to deliver individual and group respite and rehabilitative services to children diagnosed with a mental health disorder. These hands-on, goal-oriented services are provided in the home or community setting, supporting the child’s progress toward identified objectives while offering temporary relief to caregivers.
Responsibilities

Deliver in-person respite services both on-site and in community-based settings to support the development and application of the child’s skills in natural environments.

Facilitate hands-on, task-oriented activities tailored to the individual needs and goals of each child.

Accurately document each session and related communications through detailed progress notes.

Ensure timely submission of all documentation in accordance with funding requirements and the agency’s Compliance Plan.

Provide and record services using a strength-based, family-centered approach that promotes empowerment and collaboration.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Prior experience working with children with special needs is preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and support services.

Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license.

Ability to conduct home visits as required.

Proficiency in basic computer applications and documentation systems.
