Carlsbad, CA | Full-time contract, on-site, 1st shift | $90,000 – $100,000 annualized (6-12 month contract)
-
Contract: 6 to 12 months
-
Schedule: Full-time, 1st shift, onsite in Carlsbad, CA 92011
-
Pay: $90,000 – $100,000 annualized
-
This is a full-time contract position, 1st shift, on-site in Carlsbad, CA.
-
Local candidates strongly preferred — relocation assistance is not available
The Opportunity
NEOTech builds the electronics that go into high-reliability products — and our Carlsbad operation is ready for an Industrial Engineer who wants to make a visible difference, fast. This is a full-time, onsite contract role for 6 to 12 months. You will own the numbers behind the floor: how long things take, how lines are balanced, how material moves, and how we get more throughput without adding chaos.
You will not be buried in a cubicle writing reports nobody reads. You will be on the production floor with operators, supervisors, and a seasoned cross-functional team, and your recommendations will turn into real changes.
What You Will Own
-
Time & capacity: Run time studies, set standard cycle times, and build labor standards that production actually trusts.
-
Line balancing: Analyze capacity for lines, work centers, and critical equipment; balance lines to takt time and demand.
-
Layouts that get built: Create and optimize floor layouts in AutoCAD (or similar) — then watch them get built.
-
Flow & waste: Hunt down bottlenecks and waste in workflow and material flow; drive root cause and corrective action.
-
Lean in action: Lead and support Lean, 5S, and visual management initiatives that move productivity, quality, and throughput.
-
Metrics that matter: Track OEE, labor utilization, cycle time, and throughput — and turn the data into decisions.
-
New product launches: Help launch new products by documenting processes, estimating labor, and validating production readiness.
-
Standard work: Keep work instructions, routing sheets, and process maps clean and current; support ergonomic and workstation improvements.
What You Bring
-
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university
-
2+ years of related experience, including 1–3 years in electronics or contract manufacturing
-
Formal training in Lean methodologies
-
Hands-on command of standard work, cycle time, work instructions, capacity analysis, line balancing, and manufacturing layouts
-
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) plus PowerPoint and Visio
-
The ability to connect with operators and supervisors as easily as with engineers — and to earn trust quickly within a tenured team
Bonus Points
-
MES (Manufacturing Execution System) implementation or daily use
-
Six Sigma training or certification
-
ERP/MRP experience
-
A track record of coaching and mentoring peers
Why This Contract Is Worth It
-
Real impact, fast. Short timeline, high visibility. You will see your layouts, standards, and line changes in production — not in a slide deck.
-
Résumé-building scope. Lean, line balancing, NPI support, and metrics ownership in a live EMS environment add depth to any industrial engineering résumé.
-
Seasoned team. Work alongside an experienced team that knows the operation and values practical, floor-level problem solving.
-
Carlsbad, CA. Coastal North County San Diego — a great place to spend the next 6 to 12 months.
Due to ITAR and / or CUI compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
