This job posting is specific to the DoD’s Skillbridge program and is only open to personnel eligible to apply for a DoD Skillbridge program. Any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for SkillBridge. SkillBridge permits you to use up to the last 180 days of service to train and learn with an industry partner. During SkillBridge participation, you continue to receive military compensation and you are covered by your military benefits. Release for SkillBridge is always mission-dependent, however, and your unit commander must authorize participation prior to entering into any agreement with interested industry employment partners. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a drone and sensor Technician. As a Drone and Sensor Technician, you will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, and the associated sensors used in various applications. Your primary responsibilities will include assembling, calibrating, and repairing drones and power line sensors. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality to support our organization's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and configure drones, including frame assembly, motor installation, drone electronics, and wiring.
  • Translate engineering specifications into physical assembly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure drones are in working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and repair any technical issues that arise.
  • Perform electronics assembly on printed circuit boards. This includes manual and soldering oven assembly.
  • Build sensor wiring harnesses.
  • Perform pre-flight checks and post-flight inspections to guarantee safe and effective drone operation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide input for drone and sensor design improvements.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth project operations and timely deliveries.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with assembly/repair/manufacture of mechanical systems
  • Experience with electrical assembly or repair
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to learn

Desired Qualifications

  • Formal electronics assembly and repair training
  • Formal wiring harness assembly training
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance
  • Experience with manufacturing wiring harnesses
