Job Description

The Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program has openings for part-time Adjunct Instructors appointed on a per-semester basis. Applying for a part-time teaching appointment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program adds applicants to a pool that is available to the program for selection as instructional needs arise for Fall 2028 through Spring 2030.

Minimum Educational Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • An earned Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or other academic doctoral degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • A current, active, and unencumbered physical therapist license in any United States jurisdiction (required for licensed physical therapist positions).

  • Demonstrated content expertise appropriate for the assigned teaching responsibilities.

  • Contemporary clinical experience and evidence of ongoing professional development are preferred.

  • Board certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or other specialty certifications (e.g., OCS, SCS, NCS, PCS, CCS, GCS, WCS) are preferred when appropriate to the assigned content area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Adjunct instructors may be assigned to facilitate immersive laboratory experiences, assist with laboratory instruction, or teach didactic courses in one or more of the following areas within the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum: Structural Human Anatomy, Systems Screening and Basic Examination Skills, Therapeutic Exercise and Manual Therapy Techniques, Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Neuroscience for Physical Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Care Procedures, Business and Management in Physical Therapy, Diagnosis and Management of Musculoskeletal Conditions, Diagnosis and Management of Neurological Conditions, Diagnosis and Management of Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Integumentary, Metabolic, and Endocrine Conditions. Must coordinate course administrative duties such as, but not limited to, grading student work, loading all course content, such as assessments and lecture modules, meeting with students, submitting grades in a timely manner, meeting census and grade deadlines, and additional administrative duties as needed.
