Full job description
Trident Technical College Department of Public Safety is a division of law enforcement, safety, and a professional Police Department. We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for the Trident Technical College Community. This position is responsible for performing patrol officer duties to enforce state, county, and municipal criminal laws as well as traffic laws and college regulations for the protection of people at all campus locations. Prior to employment, candidates will undergo an extensive background check, Physical Ability Test (PAT), and polygraph test. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical upon offer of employment. Learn more about TTC! This position requires a high school diploma. Preferred candidate will have two (2) years of law enforcement experience.
Non-Certified Officers starting salary is $48,400 based on SC pay band LAW03 Certified Officers: Salary is commensurate with education and experience based on a SC pay band LAW03 with a salary range of $50,000 – $60,500.Ideal candidate must have working knowledge of modern police methods and procedures and the ability to prepare reports and testify in court. Must be able to work with a diverse population while providing excellent customer service. Prefer graduates of the SC Criminal Justice Academy with one (1) year of experience in campus law enforcement but will consider other reasonable combinations of education and experience to include high school diploma and some general work experience. Applicable higher education coursework may be considered in lieu of work experience. Experience in law enforcement, military police, or as a corrections officer is preferred. Candidate must have a valid South Carolina driver's license, be 21 years of age, and possess the ability to meet the requirements of LE-1 Certification with the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one (1) year of employment. Candidates with a working knowledge of state, county, and municipal laws are preferred.Applicants MUST complete the online SC State Jobs Employment Application.
