Director/Senior Scientist, Seed Treatment Formulation

About the JobBioConsortia is seeking a Seed Treatment Formulation Director/Senior Scientist to lead the formulation team within the Research and Development team in Davis, California. The successful candidate will work closely with all levels of the Company’s R&D team and be responsible for setting the strategic vision for the company’s advancing seed treatment formulation technology. This role requires high level technical leadership, strong managerial skills, capacity to lead multiple essential projects simultaneously, and cross functional collaboration with all groups within the company’s R&D structure. Job ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:- Defining the roadmap for formulation development of a wide variety of exciting Ag microbials in anticipation for launch as commercial seed treatment products.- Providing technical leadership in seed treatment formulation technology. Designing and executing experiments in the development of seed treatment formulations for biologicals.- Leading, mentoring and managing members of the formulation team.- Coordinate/lead seed vigor, germination, and other industry standard seed safety studies to enhance formulation development and validate product quality.- Designing and conducting formulation and downstream processing experiments toward optimizing product usability, physical properties and stability.- Evaluating formulation options and technical feasibilities for optimal delivery and seed/crop safety of microbial products.- Creating formulation processes and specifications for product registration and manufacturing.- Provide technical expertise for all product application-related questions to support commercial and marketing teams. Skill RequirementsThe successful candidate will possess the following skills:- PhD or MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related fields- Proven expertise in ag chemicals and/or biologicals formulation development, formulation chemistry, (5+ years preferrable)- Experience in mentoring and leading staff to meet organizational and personal goals- Expertise in the formulation of biological products and familiarity with technologies such as spray drying, granulation, emulsion, encapsulation, etc.- Know-how for working with agricultural chemistries employed in seed treatments and the application techniques used to treat them.- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.- High level of competence in the supervision of technical staff and implementation of safety requirements and skills.- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.- Must be permanently authorized to work in the USA. Salary and benefits:This position will include a competitive salary along with stock options and standard company benefits. Salary ranges from $125,000 – $175,000, depending on experience.
