Experience:Prior experience working in a mental health setting is a plus

Job Description

the Peer Specialist will work as a member of a team of professionals who provide treatment and services to people who use mental health and co-occurring substance abuse services in the community. Will contribute to the Agency’s mission to assist individuals with recovery from psychiatric difficulties through the provision of a wide range of non-clinical activities that engage, educate and support individual, their families and caregivers. Will provide recovery training and outreach to peers in both group and individual settings while demonstrating the values of hopefulness for recovery, respect, acceptance, personal responsibility, honesty and self-advocacy to both peers and colleagues. Identifies as a person with lived/living experience with mental health and/or substance use, that was life interrupting. Has a personal history of recovery, a wellness or change story that guides their peer relationships and peer work. Must obtain a CIPSS certification within six months of employment.

Must have a valid State of Maine driver’s license and automobile liability coverage of $100,000/$300,000.

ACT Team – part-time position

Mobile Crisis and CCBHC- full time position

Hourly Range – $19.50 to $20.00/hour

CHCS believes in the importance of work-life balance, we offer generous leave time with paid sick & vacation time plus seven paid holidays and five paid float holiday time to our full-time staff and pro-rated time for part-time staff.
