Olive Jobs vs Indeed (2026): Features, Pricing, Limits
Both are free to start and both have an AI assistant. They differ on who pays for what you see, and what you can research.
Pick Indeed if you want to read employee reviews, look up typical pay by title and let employers find your résumé. Pick Olive Jobs if you want to describe the job you're after in plain words, get a straight read on whether you fit a posting, and work on the résumé and the interview in one place, with no employer paying for a better spot in your results.
Both are free to start, and both now have an AI assistant, so AI alone doesn't separate them. What separates them is what sits around it. Indeed is a marketplace with employers on the paying side. Olive Jobs is a tool for people looking for real career jobs in the United States, whether they are starting out or already in their career, and it has no employer side at all. Indeed's terms and features below are as of November 2026.
What you get on each
| Feature | Olive Jobs | Indeed |
|---|---|---|
| Finding jobs | 1,535,800+ US and US-remote roles open right now. Describe what you want, typed or spoken, and Olive reads role, location, work mode, job type and pay from it. | Job search, plus Career Scout, which refines results in a chat by things like remote work, pay or title. |
| Reading your fit | Compares your profile to one posting and returns a fit tier, any stated requirements you're missing, your strengths and gaps, and what to do next. No percentage. | Career Scout offers job suggestions from your profile, and company and salary insights, and says you can review why a recommended career may be a fit. The pages we read don't describe a rating. |
| Résumé | Build one by talking, or upload a PDF or DOCX for a review. Tailoring shows each rewritten bullet before and after. Export to DOCX or PDF. | Upload a résumé and choose whether employers can find it. Career Scout suggests skills and keywords for a specific job. |
| Interview practice | Out loud, built from a real posting, a description you paste or a role you name. Each answer gets a score and feedback, and the session ends with a scored review. | Career Scout runs role-specific mock interviews with feedback after each session. |
| Employer research | No employee reviews or ratings. | Company pages carry employee reviews, ratings, average salaries by position and current openings. |
| Pay data | The ranges employers post, and medians calculated from postings. Nothing self-reported. | A salary lookup by occupation and location. |
| Tracking | My Jobs: saved jobs, a status for each, notes, interview dates and a follow-up reminder. | My Jobs: saved jobs, jobs you've applied to and updates from employers. |
Who pays for what you see first
Indeed's employer pricing page says a Standard Sponsored Job is prioritized over free posts in relevant search results, and that a Premium one lands in the top three more often. Employers are billed on what job seekers do, such as clicks or started applications. It's a common way to fund a service that charges job seekers nothing, and it means a paid post can come ahead of a free one.
Olive has no employer product, no employer-paid listings and no ads in results. Partner universities can post jobs for their students, and those posts aren't boosted. Listings are openings employers publish themselves. The cost of this model is that employers can't reach you through Olive either.
Neither model tells you whether a company will read your application. Olive removes postings that have closed, expired or disappeared from the employer's listings, and drops postings that say they aren't for a current opening, but no filter catches every role an employer leaves up without hiring. Our guide on how to spot a ghost job covers what to look for on either site, and our ghost jobs page explains what Olive filters.
What it costs a job seeker
| What it costs | Olive Jobs | Indeed |
|---|---|---|
| Without paying | Free to use, with limits. Search, saved jobs, job alerts, résumé uploads, edits and downloads of your résumés are open on every plan. Searching needs no account. | Indeed says it provides its job search tools for free, and calls Career Scout a free tool. |
| Paid plan | Plus is $19/month, cancel anytime. | None for job seekers on the pages we read. Employers pay for Sponsored Jobs. |
| Practice interviews | 2 practice interviews a month on Free. 20 practice interviews a month on Plus. | Part of Career Scout. We saw no stated limit. |
Where each one falls short
| Area | Olive Jobs | Indeed |
|---|---|---|
| Researching an employer | No employee reviews, ratings or self-reported pay. You'd go elsewhere for what it's like to work there. | Little to fault: company pages carry reviews, ratings and average pay by position. |
| Being found, being ranked | Recruiters can't find you on Olive, because it has no recruiter side. | Employers can pay for priority: Sponsored Jobs are prioritized over free posts in relevant results. |
| Scope | Only US and US-remote roles, and résumés come in one template. | Saving a résumé from Career Scout may replace the Indeed résumé you already have, so keep a copy. |
When to pick Indeed instead
- You want to read what employees say about a company before you apply.
- You want employers to be able to find you. That's a setting on Indeed and doesn't exist on Olive.
- You want to compare typical pay for a title across locations, beyond what postings state.
- You're looking for work outside the United States. Olive isn't built for that.
Many searches can use both. Research a company on Indeed, then bring the posting to Olive for the fit read, the tailored résumé and the practice interview.
When Olive fits better
You have a posting and want to know if it's worth tailoring for, and you'd like the résumé rewrite and the rehearsal to know about that posting without pasting it into three tools. How Olive works walks through each part, AI job search on Olive shows the search itself, and our guide to building a job search strategy applies whichever site you use.

Quick answers
Is Olive Jobs better than Indeed?
For some searches. Indeed has employee reviews, a salary lookup and a way for employers to find your résumé, and Olive Jobs has none of those. Olive is the better fit when you want one conversation that finds openings, reads your fit for a posting, tailors your résumé and rehearses the interview out loud.
Can employers pay to rank higher on Olive Jobs?
No. Olive Jobs has no employer product, no employer-paid listings and no ads in results. Partner universities can post jobs, and those posts aren't boosted. On Indeed, employers can pay for Sponsored Jobs, which its pricing page says are prioritized over free posts in relevant results.
Does Indeed have an AI assistant?
Yes. Indeed Career Scout is an AI career coach on desktop, mobile web and the Indeed app. Indeed says it suggests jobs, helps tailor a résumé and runs role-specific mock interviews.
Does Olive Jobs have company reviews or salary data like Indeed?
It has no employee reviews, ratings or self-reported salaries. Pay figures on Olive Jobs come from the ranges employers post, including medians calculated from those postings.
