Full job description
The mission of the Department of Insurance is to enforce the insurance laws and regulations of the state impartially, honestly and expeditiously. The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking an Insurance Technician 1/2 to join the Office of Management & Finance/Administrative Services Division. In this position, you will assist with public records requests, maintain insurance company records and filings, provide information to the public and insurance industry, and support the agency’s administrative operations. Two years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the required experience.
The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties: As an Insurance Technician 1/2 in the Office of Management & Finance/Administrative Services Division, you will/may:
- Assist with processing public records requests by coordinating requests with appropriate divisions and providing responsive documents to requesters.
- Respond to requests for copies of documents, annual statements, insurance company information, and other records maintained by the Department.
- Provide general information and assistance to the public and insurance company representatives by phone, correspondence, and in person.
- Research insurance company information using agency databases, annual statements, and other available records.
- Maintain insurance company files and records, including correspondence, financial statements, tax statements, supplemental filings, and other documents.
- File, organize, review, and update records to ensure information is accurate, complete, and easily accessible.
- Enter, upload, and verify insurance company information, documents, and financial data in agency databases and electronic systems.
- Review data entries and records for accuracy and correct or report discrepancies as needed.
- Receive, sort, prepare, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assist with maintaining postage equipment and postage funding and prepare related daily and monthly reports.
- Work with agency staff, insurance company representatives, and members of the public to provide information and assist with requests.
- Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Details: Division/Location: Office of Management & Finance/Administrative Services Division Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Insurance Technician 1 or 2, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Compensation: The salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience within the established pay range.
