Full job description

Join our Deloitte AI & Engineering team to transform technology platforms, drive innovation, and help make a significant impact on our clients' success. You'll work alongside talented professionals reimagining and reengineering operations and processes that are critical to businesses. Your contributions can help clients improve financial performance, accelerate new digital ventures, and fuel growth through innovation.

Work You'll Do

As a Core Software Engineer III on the Engineering as a Service team, you will:

  • Build agents against a layered SDK contract (shared types/tools, composable tools, thin agent shell, FastAPI + React surface)

  • Keep business logic in composable skills rather than shells or routers

  • Integrate LLMs through a multi-provider abstraction (Anthropic/Bedrock/OpenAI/Azure, extending to Vertex/OCI) behind a single sanitization + audit boundary so no raw client data leaves the worker

  • Implement durable service boundaries (async persistence, object-storage artifacts, and a tamper-evident hash-chain audit trail per run)

  • Enforce tenant isolation via Postgres RLS scoped sessions and author Alembic migrations (enum/DDL idempotency, RLS policies)

  • Wire agents into an event-driven orchestrator with human-in-the-loop (HITL) approval gates, exposing progress via async tasks (Celery/Redis) and WebSocket

  • Ship behind mechanical architecture linting and CI, contributing new invariant checks

A successful candidate would possess:

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product

  • Ability to build and sustain professional relationships

  • Ability to lead projects or workstreams

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to provide clear guidance to others

The Team

Deloitte's Government & Public Services (GPS) practice - our people, ideas, technology and outcomes - is designed for impact. Serving federal, state, & local government clients as well as public higher education institutions, our team of professionals brings fresh perspective to help clients anticipate disruption, reimagine the possible, and fulfill their mission promise.

Our Engineering as a Service offering provides end-to-end design, implementation, and technology operations, leveraging our core engineering expertise. We help transform engineering teams, modernize technology, and deliver complex programs with a product engineering mindset. Our flexible delivery models - traditional teams, pools, or pods, are tailored for each client's needs, offering engineering-led Advise, Implement, & Operate capabilities to accelerate innovation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

  • 3-6 years of backend Python experience with deep async/service-design expertise and practical LLM-application experience

  • 3-6 years of experience with Docker, SQL, Tailwind CSS 4, React.js

Preferred:

  • Experience with GitHub Copilot

  • Multi-tenant SaaS, audit/compliance (HIPAA/FedRAMP/SOX), and data-domain exposure strongly preferred
