Duties Description Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center (KFPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their secure adult facility located in Manhattan, NY. As a Psychiatrist at KFPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient centered, and recovery focused treatments to individuals admitted by court order including:• Conducting forensic evaluations and treating for competence restoration (CPL 730.40/730.50) and dangerousness (CPL 330.20)• Conducting forensic assessments for treatment over objection• Collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment team and forensic evaluators • Testifying in court as needed for treatment over objection, competence, and civil commitmentAbout KFPC:KFPC provides inpatient treatment and rehabilitation to pretrial defendants who were deemed unfit to stand trial and were court ordered for restoration of fitness to stand trial and individuals who have been found not guilty by reason of insanity. KFPC is committed to supporting underserved individuals and delivering treatment with respect for each individual's privacy and rights along with activities and initiatives to reduce disparities in access, quality, and treatment for underserved populations.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Additional Comments Psychiatrists at OMH facilities are eligible for:• Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000• Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverageAll OMH employees receive a generous benefits package including:• NYS medical, dental, & vision insurance• Access to tuition assistance programs• Excellent opportunities for advancement & professional growth• Paid time off – 13 paid vacation days in the first year, 5 paid personal days, 13 paid holidays, & paid sick leave• NYS Retirement programsBackground checks will be required.This position is eligible for Downstate Adjustment of $4,150.NOTE:1.
