We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer for Data Center, Backbone, & CDN who is passionate about large-scale network infrastructure. This is a technical leadership role within our Network engineering team, responsible for the data centers, IP backbone, and CDN/edge sites that deliver Disney+ to subscribers worldwide. You will own the design, capacity, and reliability of the network paths content travels across — from origin to edge — and partner closely with Operations, Platform, and Security teams. This position offers exposure to large-scale backbone and CDN engineering and the opportunity to shape network standards for one of the industry’s largest streaming platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, test, and maintain data center, backbone, and CDN/edge network infrastructure (routing, switching, and optical/transport) that delivers Disney+ and our other streaming platforms.

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems across backbone, data center, and CDN/edge sites, including complex multi-site streaming incidents.

  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to define network standards and architecture, and lead capacity planning, traffic engineering, and peering/egress management across backbone and CDN links.

  • Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades, routine hardware configuration, and network automation/tooling to reduce manual work.

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and post-incident reviews.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a technical/engineering field) or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of network engineering experience in large-scale production environments, with an advanced understanding of TCP/IP and expert-level BGP and IGP (OSPF/IS-IS) routing.

  • Cisco NX-OS, IOS-XR, and IOS-XE expertise; strong familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Experience with data center switching, including CLOS/leaf-spine fabric and VXLAN/EVPN overlays.

  • Hands-on network automation and scripting experience (Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar).

  • Ability to efficiently resolve network issues with varying degrees of complexity, including packet-level analysis.

  • Setup and maintenance of network log management and observability/traffic-analytics tooling (e.g., Kentik or similar).

  • Knowledgeable in network security procedures, best practices, and network documentation/diagramming.

  • Familiarity with multicast configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS/GCP transit gateways, Direct Connect).

  • Excellent communication and customer presentation skills; ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating a large-scale global backbone or CDN in media, streaming, or web-scale/hyperscale environments.

  • Experience with CDN/content delivery concepts, including caching, anycast routing, and egress/peering traffic management.

  • Expert level understanding of multicast configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with segment routing/traffic engineering.

  • Experience in multi-vendor network topologies.

  • Current CCIE or CCNP.

  • A propensity to experiment with emerging technologies.

  • Experience with:

BGP4, OSPF, IS-IS, Segment Routing, IP Multicast, VXLAN/EVPN, packet-capturing tools, TCP/IP, Linux, and IPv6. Representative hardware: Cisco Nexus (all series), Cisco 8000 series (IP backbone), Catalyst 9000 series, Cisco Firepower NGFW, Arista EOS
