Security Analyst - Entry Level Position Overview
Build foundational cybersecurity experience while supporting security operations across threat intelligence, threat hunting, log analysis, incident response, vulnerability management, endpoint and network security, and security automation. This entry-level position includes training and provides an opportunity to develop hands-on knowledge across multiple areas of information security.
What You'll Do

Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify emerging threats relevant to the organization.

Research and document new attack methods, vulnerabilities, potential risks, and adversaries using threat intelligence and OSINT tools.

Conduct proactive searches for suspicious behavior across network and endpoint activity using provided tools and playbooks.

Collaborate with senior analysts to refine and test detection rules, including SIEM queries and Defender for Endpoint rules.

Review and interpret firewall, endpoint, and server logs to identify indicators of compromise.

Escalate anomalous activity and potential security threats to senior analysts.

Assist with the initial triage of security incidents by following response frameworks such as NIST and MITRE ATT&CK.

Gather and analyze logs and alert data to determine the scope and severity of security incidents.

Document incident findings and contribute to containment and remediation efforts.

Create incident reports, after-action reviews, process documentation, training materials, and security posture reports.

Analyze vulnerability management reports, prioritize patching, and understand NIST best practices.

Develop and deliver security awareness training and assess employee awareness through simulations.

Leverage SCCM, Group Policy, and PowerShell for patch deployment and automate tasks to improve efficiency.

Configure security policies, analyze alerts, and manage endpoint protection.

Apply knowledge of network protocols and firewalls to strengthen security.
-
Investigate security incidents and collect evidence for deeper analysis.

Develop knowledge of cloud-specific security solutions as cloud adoption grows.
Required Qualifications
-
Understanding of security concepts and processes.
-
Understanding of basic computer and network concepts.
-
High School Diploma required at minimum.
-
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data, identify anomalies, and recommend solutions.
-
Strong attention to detail to support accurate analysis and configuration.
-
Ability to communicate and work effectively with a mid-size team.
-
Availability for Saturday and Sunday evening shifts after training is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
-
1+ year of experience in server or network administration.
-
1+ year of experience in an IT security-focused role.
-
Experience with SIEM and endpoint security tools.
-
Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy, and endpoint management.

Knowledge of vulnerability management and cloud security.
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Preferred Certifications
Certifications are not required. Applicants with any of the following certifications are prioritized:

Security+ (CompTIA)

Network+ (CompTIA)

GIAC Incident Handler (GCIH)
