We are proud to serve the people of Louisiana with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to equity.About This Position: The DOTD Enforcement Sergeant – Region 3 Training Coordinator serves as a commissioned law enforcement supervisor responsible for supporting the safety and security of Louisiana’s highway system while coordinating training and compliance for DOTD Police personnel in Region 3. This position combines field enforcement, personnel supervision, training coordination, and administrative responsibilities. The incumbent ensures officers maintain required state and federal certifications, training, and qualifications while also overseeing enforcement activities, equipment, personnel assignments, and compliance with DOTD policies and applicable laws and regulations. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Five years of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer commissioned with the power of arrest.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:• Coordinate regional training and compliance by maintaining training records, monitoring required certifications and recertifications, identifying training needs, and developing short- and long-term training goals for DOTD Police personnel.
- Supervise and perform law enforcement operations involving size, weight, permits, registration, taxation, traffic, and criminal laws while protecting Louisiana’s highway infrastructure and promoting roadway safety.
- Serve as a subject-matter liaison for firearms, defensive tactics, and use-of-force training, keeping current with applicable laws, equipment, policies, and training requirements and communicating updates to personnel.
- Supervise personnel and administrative operations by reviewing leave, overtime, training requests, and assignments; ensuring required reports and inventories are completed; monitoring equipment and vehicle needs; and assisting with operational planning and budgeting.
