Description

Robert Half is currently recruiting for a Plant Controller to lead financial oversight for our manufacturing operation in Loudon, Tennessee. This role partners closely with plant leadership to strengthen cost visibility, support operational decision-making, and maintain accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in plant accounting, budgeting, and inventory controls within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily plant accounting activities, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and aligned with internal policies.

  • Prepare monthly close deliverables, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis of manufacturing results.

  • Manage standard costing processes and review product cost structures, bills of materials, and cost variances to improve accuracy.

  • Support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts by partnering with operations and finance stakeholders.

  • Oversee inventory accounting activities, including cycle count programs and annual physical inventory coordination.

  • Monitor accounts payable and fixed asset transactions to ensure proper classification, depreciation, and reporting.

  • Maintain compliance with internal control requirements, including SOX-related documentation and audit readiness activities.

  • Generate financial insights and performance reports that help plant leadership evaluate spending, productivity, and operational trends.

Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in plant accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance.

  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing and variance analysis.

  • Experience leading month-end close activities, including journal entries and financial reconciliations.

  • Familiarity with inventory controls such as cycle counts and annual physical inventory procedures.

  • Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and accounts payable processes.

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in a manufacturing setting.

  • Proficiency with SAP or a comparable ERP system used in plant finance operations.

  • Understanding of SOX compliance requirements and preparation for internal or external audits.
