Reporting to the Compute and Managed Platform Lead, this role coordinates the day-to-day delivery and support of wide area networking, campus and site local area networking, wireless connectivity, voice and telephony services, and the monitoring, event management, and network observability capabilities that keep those services healthy. The role translates connectivity strategy and architecture into reliable execution, guides internal engineers and managed partners, resolves complex issues, and drives improvements in availability, performance, security posture, and employee experience.
Wide Area Network and Global Connectivity Responsibilities:
-
Guide implementation and continuous improvement of the global WAN architecture, including SD-WAN, internet edge, cloud interconnect, and secure access service edge integration
-
Coordinate carrier and circuit delivery, inventory, performance, diversity, resilience, and cost management with sourcing and service providers
-
Validate that connectivity solutions meet the needs of remote sites, offices, and field operations, including low-bandwidth and rural locations
-
Maintain capacity, refresh, and lifecycle plans for network hardware and circuits, escalating investment needs and delivery risks
Campus, Data Center, and Wireless Networking:
-
Lead the technical design, deployment, and operational support of LAN infrastructure across offices, laboratories, greenhouses, and manufacturing environments
-
Coordinate enterprise wireless engineering, including coverage and density design, spectrum planning, guest and IoT segmentation, and support for connected field and plant equipment
-
Work with Security to implement network segmentation, zero trust access, network access control, and separation of information and operational technology environments
-
Apply standard site network designs and repeatable deployment patterns for new sites, acquisitions, divestitures, and site closures
Voice and Telephony:
-
Coordinate operation and support of the global voice estate, including cloud calling, trunking, session border controllers, contact center connectivity, and remaining legacy PBX systems
-
Lead technical execution of telephony migrations to cloud voice, legacy retirement, and carrier and number inventory consolidation
-
Ensure emergency calling, number management, and telecommunications controls are implemented and maintained in each country of operation
-
Track voice carrier service, usage, and cost, and provide data for supplier and budget reviews
Monitoring and Event Management:
-
Lead day-to-day monitoring and event management for the connectivity estate, including instrumentation coverage, alert thresholds, correlation, and noise reduction
-
Ensure events flow cleanly into incident management with accurate priority, ownership, and automated triage where patterns are well understood
-
Coordinate follow-the-sun support and escalation with internal teams and managed partners, including on-call coverage for critical connectivity failures
Network Observability and Automation:
-
Improve network observability so the team can assess both service availability and application, voice, and meeting performance across the network path
-
Work with the observability team to implement telemetry, flow analysis, synthetic testing, and digital experience monitoring to identify degradation before users report it
-
Drive network automation and infrastructure-as-code practices for configuration, compliance, and change, reducing manual work and configuration drift
-
Produce connectivity health, capacity, and experience reporting and recommend corrective actions
Service Delivery and Operational Discipline:
-
Coordinate connectivity services against defined service levels and support enterprise incident, problem, and change management processes
-
Monitor managed service partner performance, address delivery issues, and escalate gaps against contracted outcomes and quality standards
-
Support network and voice resilience planning, testing, and remediation within business continuity and disaster recovery programs
-
Coordinate connectivity work for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and site transitions to meet approved business timelines
Team Leadership and Technical Development:
-
Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, technical mentoring, and workload coordination for network, voice, collaboration, and monitoring specialists
-
Contribute to roadmap, budget, resource, and lifecycle planning by developing estimates, priorities, and technical recommendations
-
Promote engineering rigor, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and collaboration across infrastructure, security, applications, and business teams
Qualifications
-
Deep technical command of enterprise networking, including routing and switching, SD-WAN, wireless, network security integration, and cloud networking
-
Strong working knowledge of voice and telephony architecture, including SIP, session border controllers, cloud calling, and carrier interconnect
-
Practical experience operating the Microsoft Teams Phone at enterprise scale.
-
Fluency in monitoring, event management, and observability tooling, with the judgment to distinguish signal from alert noise
-
Experience with network automation and scripting, and a track record of removing manual configuration work
-
Proven ability to govern carriers and managed service providers on commercial terms and delivered performance
-
Composed under pressure during major outages, with clear executive communication while service is impaired
-
Strong interpersonal, influencing, and diplomacy skills, with a genuine passion for leading global teams
-
