Full job description

Description

Carnegie Mellon School of Drama seeks an adjunct instructor to teach COSTUME CONCEPT ILLUSTRATION , a required, 7-week, spring semester mini-4 course for BFA and MFA Costume Design students in the School of Drama.

COSTUME CONCEPT ILLUSTRATION is a digitally-based practice that started in Hollywood in order to afford costume illustrators the efficiency of photo bashing performer faces and bodies into a digital rendering. This allows the freedom of quick iterations into different costume looks whether in change of color, form or style, for designers to then be able to choose the preferred looks to present to their directors, actors and producers. This course is part of the curriculum for MFA and BFA students in Costume Design. It is taught in conjunction with hand drawing, painting, and figure drawing. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator course(s) will precede students taking CCI.

The anticipated start date for this position is in early March 2027 & continues until May 18, 2027. The course meets once a week for 7 weeks. The position is in-person, and based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with the possibility of remote work. Salary: TBD based on experience and qualifications.
