Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to strengthen the finance team in Florida. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting specialist who can oversee core ledger activity, support timely close cycles, and deliver meaningful financial analysis to business leaders. The position works closely with the Controller, cross-functional partners, and external auditors to maintain accurate reporting, strong controls, and informed decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day general ledger activity and maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

  • Contribute to monthly close activities by preparing journal entries, reviewing allocations, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and explaining period-to-period fluctuations.

  • Partner with finance leadership on budgeting efforts and provide support during planning and forecast cycles.

  • Evaluate accounting matters to ensure financial treatment aligns with generally accepted accounting principles and internal policies.

  • Monitor cost and standard variance trends, investigate unusual results, and recommend corrective actions to improve reporting accuracy.

  • Act as a key contact for external audit requests and help coordinate supporting schedules, documentation, and follow-up items.

  • Administer intercompany billing and reconciliation processes to ensure balances are properly recorded and resolved.

  • Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, prepare analyses such as warranty reserves, excess and obsolete inventory, accounts receivable allowance, tax filings, and ad hoc financial reporting as needed. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 1 to 2 years of supervisory or team leadership responsibility.

  • Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Experience performing analytical review of financial results, including variance analysis and balance sheet support.

  • Familiarity with internal control environments and compliance standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and support business stakeholders.

  • Background in manufacturing, public company environments, or construction and land development is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, work independently, and contribute positively within a team-oriented environment.
