Full job description

Company Description

Air is the leader in Enterprise Readiness. Our mission is to establish readiness as a real-time condition that is continuously achieved. Today, a dangerous Readiness Gap exists between what the front line needs and what is delivered. Our AI-native platform, Air Enterprise Readiness, aligns development, production, delivery, and sustainment into one coordinated execution system for government agencies and industrial suppliers. By revealing true capacity, exposing real constraints, coordinating resources, and executing at the speed of operational demands, the front line gets what it needs to succeed.

Job Description

Air's customers run programs where one late part can hold up an entire fleet. Closing that gap happens inside specific missions — getting a part acquired and produced, moving it through the supply chain, repairing what breaks, and getting it where it is needed. Our mission solutions are the products that make each of those missions work on the Air platform. The challenge is understanding how the mission actually runs today, deciding where the platform can change the outcome, and turning that into products customers adopt at scale.

As Director of Product for a mission solution area — such as Acquisition and Production, Supply Chain and Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul, or Logistics — reporting to the SVP of Product, you own the product strategy for your domain end to end. You are accountable for the readiness outcomes you move and the accounts you win and keep, and you build on the shared Air platform rather than rebuilding it. You'll be in the room when we decide what to build, and you'll build and grow the product managers who deliver it.

This role is a full-time position located out of our office in Arlington, VA / Pittsburgh, PA / San Francisco, CA / Anywhere in the US.

This role may require up to 30% travel.

Scope of Responsibilities

Own the strategy and the outcomes for your mission

  • Define a product strategy for your mission area that connects directly to how customers reach readiness, and to how Air wins and keeps accounts.

  • Make the portfolio-level trade-offs within your area so individual bets add up to one coherent solution, not a pile of features.

  • Reframe the mission problem rather than servicing the requests in front of you, and set the principles that guide decisions across your team.

  • Own measurable outcomes - adoption, expansion, and the readiness metrics that matter in your domain - and report them at the leadership level.

Build products from how the work really happens

  • Map how work, data, and decisions move across your mission - in depots, motorpools, and program offices - and use that map to shape the roadmap.

  • Translate real mission workflows into productized solutions that are broadly adoptable rather than one-off, leaning on the shared platform.

  • Set the patterns for human–AI collaboration: what the system does on its own, what it recommends, what a person must approve, and how users know when to trust it.

Co-create with the people who know the work

  • Bring customers, domain experts, and forward-deployed teams into the design process early, through working sessions, live prototypes, and field visits, rather than presenting finished work for approval.

  • Lead alignment across Product, Engineering, Data, and go-to-market when priorities compete, turning competing mental models into a shared picture teams can build against.

Partner with the platform

  • Partner with the Core Platform team to build on shared capabilities, and feed what you learn in the field back into the platform roadmap.

Build and grow the team

•

  • Recruit and develop a team of product managers, raising the bar for product quality and growing each person.

  • Create the clarity and principles that let the team make good decisions without you in the room.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Required Skills:

  • A track record of owning a product line end to end - strategy through delivery - and the business outcomes it drove, such as adoption, revenue, or account growth.

  • Portfolio-level thinking at the scale of a business: making trade-offs across teams and reframing problems so the whole is more coherent than the sum of its parts.

  • Experience going deep in a technical or operational domain you didn't start out knowing, co-creating with domain experts, and turning that into a shipped product.

  • Hands-on fluency with AI products, including the trade-offs between deterministic and agentic systems and how they fail.

  • Experience leading and growing product managers.

  • Experience in enterprise software (B2B SaaS, ERPs, or highly configurable specialized-industry platforms). We weight the scope you've owned over years in seat; a strong director may have 5–7.

Desired Skills:

  • Background in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, sustainment, acquisition, or industrial operations.

  • Current possession of a U.S. security clearance, or the ability to obtain one with our sponsorship.

  • Experience designing for defense, government, or public sector.

We firmly believe that past performance is the best indicator of future performance. If you thrive while building solutions to complex problems, are a self-starter, and are passionate about making an impact in global security, we’re eager to hear from you.
