Full job description
Senior Principal Sales Engineer, North Central Region - Chicago
About Mimecast The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted. Work Protected.

- Deliver product demonstrations and presentations to technical and business audiences, including senior customer executives.
- Prepare formal RFP and security questionnaire responses, along with high-level implementation plans.
- Partner closely with sales colleagues throughout the opportunity lifecycle to understand customer needs and position complex services consultatively.
- Work with Service Delivery to support complex solutions and oversee the implementation and success of pre-sales proofs of concept.
- Contribute to key customer engagements and train sales teams on Mimecast products.
- Collaborate with Product Management and technology partners, and represent Mimecast at regional marketing events as needed.
What You'll Bring
- Extensive technical pre-sales experience with security or messaging software, with the depth, autonomy, and commercial judgment to support complex enterprise opportunities.
- Experience consultatively selling complex services and working with demanding business customers and large strategic enterprise accounts.
- Strong knowledge of networking and security technologies and services, including email security and email-borne threats such as phishing, malware, and spam.
- Hands-on experience with email security, anti-malware, or archiving platforms, plus knowledge of email migration processes and tooling, including Exchange and Microsoft 365 migrations and upgrades.
- Understanding of governance, compliance, and insights use cases, including email archiving, data retention, and e-discovery; their business and regulatory drivers; and the competitive landscape, including Proofpoint, Barracuda, Microsoft Purview, and Symantec Enterprise Vault.
- Understanding of insider risk and the business drivers for protecting sensitive data and intellectual property from accidental, negligent, and malicious insider activity, including familiarity with competitors such as Microsoft Purview, Proofpoint, and DTEX.
- Ability to explain technical solutions clearly to business-focused audiences and deliver demonstrations and presentations to senior customer executives.
- A record of taking ownership of customer issues and resolving them under pressure.
- Experience leading projects to completion and coordinating people and resources across multiple teams.
- Experience with SaaS solutions, indirect sales environments, and high-growth companies.
- A proactive, self-sufficient approach, with flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills.
