Full job description

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join an established, privately-owned business in Lexington, South Carolina. This role supports the corporate accounting function by helping maintain accurate financial records, contributing to the monthly close cycle, and improving day-to-day accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting principles, confidence working across multiple systems, and the communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues throughout the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the monthly accounting close by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure deadlines are met.

  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Maintain the general ledger by recording financial transactions and verifying supporting documentation.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of internal financial reports and statements for management use.

  • Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and areas that may require follow-up or correction.

  • Contribute to process enhancement efforts that strengthen efficiency, consistency, and accuracy within the accounting function.

  • Partner with the Controller and cross-functional teams on assigned projects and ongoing departmental priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.

  • Ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and everyday data analysis functions.

  • Comfortable learning and using multiple accounting and business software platforms.

  • Self-directed work style with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to build productive relationships across departments and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
