Overview
Summer 2027 Student Nurse Internship
Shift: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Minimum of 24 hours - maximum of 40 hours/week -- flexible hours!)
Are you a passionate nursing student eager to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact in patient care? Our Student Nurse Internship program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced healthcare professionals, develop your skills, and grow your career in a supportive and dynamic environment.
10-week hourly paid position.
- Customizable internship tracks available in different locations (Home Care, Hospice, Pediatrics, Infusion, + Care at Home)
Transition to Nurse Residency Program:

Those that successfully complete the internship would be considered a preferred candidate for the nurse residency program.

Residency program includes a commitment to work one year (12 months) in a full-time status as a Registered Nurse at Unity Point at Home.

Responsibilities
OBJECTIVES

Build strong professional relationships with clinical team members.

Gain confidence in performing technical skills.

Develop clinical judgment skills and priority setting.

Gain valuable experience to help prepare for a future position with UnityPoint Health after graduation.
Qualifications
PREREQUISITES
-
Current enrollment in an accredited ADN, BSN or accelerated program, entering the fourth year of a BSN program or the final two terms of an ADN program.

Current LPN enrolled in ADN or BSN program

Interns must be enrolled in a one-credit nursing course for the duration of the internship to perform RN skills.

Submit recommendation forms from two nursing facility members.
Write a letter of intent answering: What influenced you pursue a career in nursing? Why are you interested in the nurse internship program? Where do you see yourself in five years?
Include a current AHA or Red Cross Professional Provider card + current mandatory reporter certification.
