The Role and Why It's Important The SAP BASIS Administrator II provides SAP administration expertise to support the technical planning, installation, and maintenance of Hy-Vee's SAP environment. This role contributes to moderately complex aspects of projects, working both independently and collaboratively to keep critical business systems available, secure, and performing well. If you have deep SAP BASIS experience, enjoy solving technical problems, and want your work to directly support the systems that keep Hy-Vee running, you'll excel in this role.
What You'll Do
- Participate in small to large SAP implementations
- Contribute to maintenance activities related to system operation and availability
- Participate in system installations, upgrades, and performance tuning
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing second-level support and assistance to other administrators and engineers
- Create and contribute to technical documentation and diagrams
- Contribute to the evaluation of new technologies
- Participate in the off-hours on-call rotation
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, including payroll, inventory costs, sales, accounts payable and receivable, pharmacy data, and all data related to operations
Your Skills
- Commitment to the Hy-Vee mission and a willingness to promote the company's values
- Strong knowledge of SAP administration concepts, ERP and SAP BASIS best practices, business processes, and data structures
- Demonstrated technical ability to execute small to medium system administration tasks in SAP and recommend strategies for future solutions
- Experience with change control procedures, including transport management
- Skill in debugging, troubleshooting, and performing root cause analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work directly with business partners to gather requirements, design solutions, and write technical documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take initiative without being instructed
- Ability to stay current on company and industry trends and adhere to regulatory requirements
Reporting Relationships Accountable and Reports to: IT Manager/Director
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree or higher in information technology or a related field
- 5-10 years of information technology or related experience
- 5-10 years of SAP BASIS administration experience, preferably in retail
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to operate standard office technology, including computers and telephones
- Ability to review and analyze documents and data on screen
- Ability to occasionally transport materials weighing up to 10 pounds (such as files or office supplies)
Working Environment Work is performed in a general office setting with frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Equipment used includes a desktop and/or laptop computer, third-party applications, printers, and a telephone. Participation in an off-hours on-call rotation and occasional travel are required.
