Criminal Justice Administrative & Data Unpaid Internship - Spring 2027

This is a non-merit, unpaid internship position. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.5th District, Department of Corrections has an exciting Administrative & Data internship opportunity for Spring 2027. This role offers hands-on experience in corrections administration, data management, financial collections, and criminal justice information systems. Please note that these internship opportunities are unpaid. Key Responsibilities

• Collection and documentation of unpaid financial obligations
• Accurate entry and maintenance of DNA-related information in a statewide data system

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have completed at least two years of college by the start of the internship
• Must be currently enrolled at an accredited educational institution with coursework in criminal justice, corrections, sociology, psychology, social work, business, accounting, information technology, or data management
• Comfortable being in a criminal justice environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• High ethical standards and professional judgment
• Self-driven and accountable
• Flexible and open to change
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Positive attitude and commitment to customer service
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, databases, or other data-entry systems
